Founded in 1958, John R. Wood Realtors is one of the oldest real estate firms in southwest Florida. The first office location was on 5th Avenue South, next door to the site of the current Old Naples office, opened some 42 years after the original. Although the Wood firm had previously acquired a commercial sales and property management company, major expansion of the residential division began in 1995 with acquisition of the local Howard Hanna company from the owner, William Wemple. This was followed two years later by the acquisition of another local firm, The Hunt Real Estate Group. In the late l990’s the company closed its commercial sales and property management divisions and divested itself of the residential rental department. At this point, the focus for growth became residential sales and related services such as mortgage, title, and insurance.

John R. Wood has distinguished himself with over four decades of service to the real estate profession:

• Chairman of the Florida Real Estate Commission
• President of the 700,000 member National Association of Realtors

His leadership has taken the company to a position of high respect within the community and across the United States as an organization that truly exemplifies dedication to excellence. His extensive involvement in local civic and charitable organizations has earned him such prestigious honors as the Laureate Junior Achievement Hall of Fame and a place among Naples’ business elite.
